2 Non-Traditional Options for Weddings in Lincoln, Nebraska

Backyard & Private Property Weddings
As a Lincoln wedding photographer, I am always such a fan of backyard and private property venues. This is the ideal way to host intimate ceremonies that have been completely personalized to you. If you do choose to do this, just know there will be a few things you need to keep in mind:
- Unless you are working with a professional estate, you will need to rent things like tables and chairs, so be sure to work that into your budget.
- Make a backup plan for the weather. From tents to a secondary location, you have a few options here.
- Make sure you have a sufficient power source to keep the party going, and check zoning laws ahead of time so you don’t violate any ordinances.
- Don’t forget about bathrooms! Have a spot where people can go without having to navigate huge lines!

Tent Weddings
Another great option is to host an outdoor wedding beneath a tent. This will let you extend the outdoor season while creating a customized space for your celebration. Here’s what to keep in mind with this:
- I recommend checking to see if there are climate control options available through your tent rental company so you can keep things comfortable! They also have options with retractable walls.
- For the reception, look into a dance floor. No one wants to roll their ankle on uneven ground.
- Once again, think about bathrooms for your guests!
