About The Magnolia Hotel Wedding Venue

1615 Howard Street, Omaha, Nebraska 68102

From the second the first brick was placed, Magnolia Hotel was destined to become an original. First called Aquila Court, this building was designed by the renowned firm Holabird & Roche to serve as a gathering space for the entire community. Once it was completed in 1924, professionals such as physicians and artists moved in. The architecture stood out from the rest of the city, while the courtyard was the perfect spot to spend a few hours relaxing with a book or catching up over conversation. Meanwhile, the inside felt downright decadent with terrazzo marble flooring, imported Travertine, and Belgian black marble. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 before being purchased by the Sheraton in 1996. As the company worked to modernize the amenities for their guests, they made sure to preserve all that original charm.

These days, Magnolia Hotel has 145 rooms as well as a world-class restaurant and wedding venue. They kept the courtyard and now use it for a range of events, including weddings. When you choose this spot for your celebration, you can have iconic backdrops as well as unrivaled accommodations!

Details of the Grounds

When you book your wedding at Magnolia Hotel, you are going to have designated spaces for every part of your celebration. Your rental will automatically include a hospitality suite where you can get ready ahead of your ceremony. If you would prefer a larger space for this portion of your day, I highly recommend booking a two-level suite where you will have plenty of room to stretch out, do your hair and makeup, and share some mimosas.

The courtyard tends to be a favorite spot for ceremonies and for good reason. Nestled in the center of the building, this open-air space is complemented by brick archways on one side and French windows on the other. The back of the area has large stone columns, while the front is illuminated by string lights, making it a dreamy spot for a romantic service. You can set up your altar in front of the fountain so you have the right amount of ambiance. With the hotel just inside the door, you are going to have the best spot to make your grand entrance!

Once you have finished with your vows, your guests can move toward the back of the courtyard for a cocktail hour where they can enjoy drinks while the sun sets.

Unmatched Wedding Reception Options At Magnolia Hotel

Then, it will be time for your reception. You will have a few options for this part of your evening. If you would prefer an outdoor dinner, you will be able to stay out in the courtyard and feast beneath the string lights. The back of this space will be ideal for your entertainment! With enough space for up to 300 guests, this space is great for parties of all sizes! For those who would prefer to move inside, you can pick between several ballrooms.

Just inside the doors, you will have the Lavender Ballroom. This is the more intimate option, offering enough space for up to 120 guests. This area has been decorated in a neutral color palette with tan walls, patterned carpet, and white French doors leading into the courtyard. If you would prefer something a little grander, the Magnolia Ballroom is your spot! This space has soaring ceilings with statement lights, off-white walls, and floor-to-ceiling windows. The flexible floor plan will ensure you have plenty of room to celebrate! This area is able to hold up to 150 guests.

Photography Opportunities

Because the Magnolia Hotel is full of style, you are going to have tons of unique, urban-inspired wedding photo opportunities! As you get ready for your day, you can take pictures around the suite, using the stairs to reveal your look to your bridal party. You can also stick around here and take candid pictures with your friends. For your first look portraits, you can head out to the courtyard. This area gives you so many gorgeous spots, including the staircase leading down to the main level. You can also snap some pictures inside the archways or on top of the balcony. Once it’s time for pictures with the entire wedding party, you can go outside the hotel and take full advantage of the breathtaking architecture.
