Located just 10 minutes outside of Omaha, the Northern Lights venue ditches the hustle of city life for small-town charm. This property has been thoughtfully designed to make it feel like you are in a world all of your own. The ceremony space is surrounded by a thick treeline, while the interior will make it seem like you’ve been plopped into the quaint countryside. At the same time, you will be in the heart of Fort Calhoun, giving you everything you could need to keep your wedding day running smoothly. With dreamy backdrops and world-class accommodations, you can celebrate your love story without any stress!
Details of the Grounds
The Northern Lights venue has been built to give you designated spaces for every single part of your wedding day! You will get access to the property early in the morning so you can start to get ready on-site. Like the rest of the property, these suites were made to be a bit of a blank slate, making them ideal for snapping some candid pictures as you get ready alongside your wedding party.
Once it’s time for your ceremony to start, you can head out to the courtyard. This area is one of the best spots around Omaha for an outdoor wedding! The flat and open lawn will give your guests a comfortable space where they can watch you exchange your vows. Meanwhile, the paved aisle running from the building up to the front of the courtyard will be ideal for a grand and dramatic entrance! The front of the area features a step where you can stand throughout your ceremony. And while you might technically be in the Fort Calhoun town limits, the trees surrounding this entire area will ensure you feel like you are a world away!
Once you have finished with this portion of your day, your guests can remain out in the courtyard for your cocktail hour. This green space has a covered pavilion as well as a seating area where your guests can relax and enjoy a drink. Many couples choose to set up lawn games for entertainment until it’s time for the reception to start.
Receptions At The Northern Lights Venue
The rest of your night will happen inside the venue, where you will have a barn-inspired backdrop for your reception. This area has been thoughtfully arranged with amenities for both you and your vendors. Just outside of the celebration area, there will be a caterer’s service room where your culinary team can prepare your meal for the evening. There is also a large, custom bar area where your guests can order drinks throughout the night. As for the event area itself, you are going to have a space that can welcome practically any style! The white walls and black accents will look great with your wedding colors of choice. Meanwhile, the wooden rafters running across the ceiling will add some rustic charm. This space has an open floor plan with enough room to accommodate up to 230 guests.
Photography Opportunities
Northern Lights really does feel as though it is a venue created with your photos in mind! You can start out your day inside the dressing suites, snapping candid pictures with your closest friends. Then, once you have completed your look, you can head outside and take some pictures amidst the natural light. The exterior of the building is perfect for this, giving you your choice of white or wooden backgrounds.
Once it’s time for your couple’s portraits, stick around the outside! The courtyard offers several nature-rich spaces where you can share a private moment with the countryside in the background. While it is positively lovely any time of day, it becomes downright transcendent during the golden hour!
For your group portraits, you can use the front of the courtyard near the altar. Because this area is flat and accessible, it’s ideal for people of all ages and abilities!
Wedding Details
Beyond providing you with luxurious venues for your wedding, Northern Lights is going to make sure you have everything you need! From the second you sign that contract, they start matching you with the resources for your ideal day. You will have a planning meeting with the venue manager, who will work out all the details and tell you about the best vendors in the area. You can choose your own catering company as long as they are properly licensed. The venue specialists can also create a custom floor plan that makes the most sense for your party. Once your day arrives, their team is going to take care of all the details, including the set-up and tear-down of all the tables and chairs. You will be the only ones in the venue for the day, so you never have to feel like you are being rushed!
Throughout your night, your event is going to be elevated by color-changing LED uplighting. Your guests will have access to free on-site parking. Then, once the evening is over, the venue is going to handle all the cleanup.
